Conduct a Workshop at A New HOPE

Are you a hacker, maker or tinkerer who loves to share your creations, experience and insights with others? You’re invited to share your idea for A New HOPE workshop at St. John’s University in New York City from July 22-24, 2022.
Topics at past events have included:
- Hacking wi-fi routers.
- How to submit Freedom of Information (FOIA) requests.
- Making tea.
- How to use a solder to make an ArduTouch music synthesizer.
- How to build and run your own cellular network.
- DIY environmental estrogen extraction and detection methods.
- Building locks for locksport.
- A role-playing counterintelligence game for activists and hackers.
- Hacking your mind with hypnosis.
- Making a hologram.
- Computer programming
- Information security
How to Submit Your Workshop Proposal
Email your submission to workshops@hope.net.
Please ensure you include the following information in your proposal:
- Title and abstract
- A brief bio
- How long is your workshop?
- How long do you need for setting up before and cleaning up after your workshop?
- Will you be providing workshop materials for participants? If so, what's the cost for participants for the materials?
- Could you give your workshop more than once during A New HOPE?
- What kind of space do you prefer? Large (50 people) open area (with tables and tools), small classroom (20 individual desks), or large classroom (30 individual desks)
- Do you need a projector?
- Do you need amplified sound?
- AC power requirements
- Do you need any tools (some of which we may be able to provide)?
- Prerequisites (if any) for attendees
- Anything attendees need to bring (or download beforehand)
- Do you need anything special?
All submissions will receive an automated response.
We review submissions on a rolling basis and will contact you if we choose your presentation.
